Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 6th October
This week in Year 3, we have finished making our Stone Age houses! We had to work together in small groups to make our models as accurate as possible and we are really pleased with the results.
In English this week, we have still been learning how to use coordinating conjunctions in our writing. We re-read our text 'Stone Age Boy' and then we had to write a postcard to our friends and families imagining that we too had travelled back to the Stone Age and describing the adventures we had been on, all while remembering to include some conjunctions!
Our Maths learning this week has been focused on our new topic of mental addition and subtraction. We have been adding 1s and 10s to 2-digit and 3-digit numbers.
In Science this week, we learnt how muscles work with the bones in our skeletons to help us move. We learnt that when we bend our arm, our biceps contract and get shorter while our tendons relax and lengthen. Some of us even went on to make models of this movement using elastic bands to represent our muscles.
In Computing this half term, we are learning about networks. We started last week by discussing what a network is and looking at our computer network in school. This week, we learnt about the journey a file takes when it is emailed from one person to another.
