Confidence, Creativity and an Inspiring Author Visit!
What an incredible week it’s been in Year 4! There’s been so much energy, creativity and curiosity across all our lessons, and we’ve ended the week feeling inspired and proud of everything the children have achieved.
One of the biggest highlights was a special visit from author Nat Harrison, who came to talk to us about her brand-new book The Girl Who Raced the World. The children were absolutely captivated as Nat shared where her ideas came from and how she turned them into a published story. She spoke about her own journey as a writer — from first drafts and rejections to finally holding her finished book in her hands — a real lesson in determination and courage.
The children had lots of brilliant questions about writing, creativity and how to overcome challenges. Nat encouraged everyone to keep reading widely and to believe in their own ideas. It was wonderful to see the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm shining through. Many of them left the hall saying they felt inspired to write their own stories!
In PE, our swimmers continue to show great responsibility and courage, while 4BB and 4VW have been demonstrating amazing control and balance in gymnastics. Over in 4JL, the children have worked brilliantly as a team in football, showing strong collaboration and sportsmanship. Everyone has remembered to Be Safe and Be Respectful in every activity.
In art, our classrooms have been buzzing as we’ve started shaping and decorating our clay Greek pots. The patience and focus the children have shown have been fantastic, and their designs are already looking beautiful. We can’t wait to paint them next week!
Throughout the week, we’ve seen our school values come to life — curiosity in our learning, courage in trying new things, collaboration in group work, and determination in every challenge.
It’s been a week full of creativity, inspiration and pride. Year 4 truly are showing what it means to learn with heart, imagination and confidence!
