Coten End Primary School

Week 4 (w/b: 22.9.25)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Year 1! This week, the children have been getting into the festive spirit by designing and decorating their very own Christmas cards. They all look wonderful. A quick reminder to parents: if you would like to purchase your child’s Christmas card, please make sure it’s returned to us by Friday.

While we’re starting to feel festive inside, the children have been enjoying the last of the summer sunshine outdoors. The sandpit has been a big hit this week. From building castles to digging for treasure, it’s been lovely to see the children exploring ways to play with the sand.

Finally, In the classroom the children have also been busy exploring shapes and spaces using masking tape. They’ve been creating fantastic outlines on the carpet. We've seen intricate zoos and winding roads to cosy houses. This activity has been a great way for them to develop their spatial awareness and teamwork, and it’s been wonderful to see their imaginations come to life (and cover quite a bit of floor space in the process!).
