Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning 15.09.25

Year 5 have had another fantastic week of learning, filled with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration!

In History, the children have been diving deeper into the fascinating world of the Maya civilisation. They worked hard to understand why this civilisation grew in importance, exploring how different regions of their settlements shaped farming and trade.

Over in Science, Year 5 explored the concept of air resistance. Working collaboratively, they designed and tested parachutes of different sizes, carefully observing how surface area affects the speed of a fall. The children impressed us with their excellent scientific predictions and drew some super conclusions from their experiments.

This week also brought plenty of excitement as Year 5 ventured into the world of opera. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as they experiment with new styles of music.

Finally, in Art, creativity was flowing as the children began designing their very own Maya masks. They studied the intricate details of traditional designs and started to plan their own versions with care and imagination.
