Coten End Primary School

Week Ending Friday 14th February 2025

This week was our final week of our Space theme. The children made constellation art using cotton buds, black paper and white pencil crayons while learning about constellations.  On Friday, the children learned about the history of Valentine’s Day and why some people like to celebrate today. Our nook of the week was ‘How to Catch a Star’ by Oliver Jeffers.  In Maths, the children used the vocabulary more than, fewer than and equal too and explored capacity.  The children also enjoyed leaning about the artist Peter Thorpe and creating paintings and collage art inspire by his Space themed art.  The children made shadow puppets to use in the dark den and explore how shadows are made. Some children also had great fun pumping up balloons and making ‘amusing aliens. We wish all our school families a restful half term and look forward to welcoming you back in a week’s time.
