Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 09.12.24
This week has been packed with excitement, creativity, and exploration for Year 5! We’ve had some unforgettable experiences both in and out of the classroom.
Firstly, Year 5 set off on a thrilling geography trip around Warwick, hunting for the perfect film locations for a Harry Potter movie. The weather was crisp and cold, but we bundled up warmly and dived into the adventure with enthusiasm. From wide-open spaces and views of the river to the cobbled lanes, towering walls of the castle and the bustling centre of Warwick, the trip helped Year 5 see Warwick in a whole new light and reminded us how magical our local area can be!
Next, Year 5 had the chance to step into another magical world during our Christmas theatre trip to see Alice in Wonderland. The show was full of confusion and delight – we were completely immersed in Wonderland’s topsy-turvy adventures. Of course, no theatre trip would be complete without a treat, and Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their ice creams during the interval!
Finally, back at school, Year 5 has been demonstrating fantastic learning attitudes and tackling a variety of subjects with determination:
- Swimming: Year 5 continues to make a splash as they work on improving their strokes and water confidence.
- Maths: Year 5 tackle fractions head-on with perseverance and teamwork.
- RE: Thought-provoking discussions about the representation of Jesus in the world have helped Year 5 engage with philosophical ideas and deepen their understanding.
- English: Year 5 are honing their writing skills as they explore informal and formal letters.
- DT: After completing their phenomenal banners, Year 5 learnt how to give and receive feedback through peer and self-assessment.
As the term draws to a near-close, Year 5 continues to amaze us with their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to learning.
