What a fantastic week we've had in Year 2! Our classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as we've explored numbers, the world around us, and even the creatures who share our school grounds.

In maths, we've been learning how to use tens and ones to help us understand number bonds and related number facts. We’ve learnt how to draw tens and ones pictorially and have been using our new skills to solve addition and subtraction number sentences.

In English, we’ve been reading The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright. We loved the story and its message about finding courage, no matter how small you feel. Inspired by the book, we’ve been working hard to add more detail to our writing using expanded noun phrases. We used these to describe the characters and the setting — like “a tiny, trembling mouse” and “a tall, towering lion with a mighty roar.”

Our geography lessons took us on a journey to Africa as we compared Warwick with Nairobi. We looked at the differences in climate, buildings, and even the kinds of animals you might find. It was exciting to see how people live in different places!

In art, we started designing our own Adinkra-style stamps, ready to use in printmaking over the next two weeks. We looked closely at the shapes and meanings of traditional symbols before creating our own.

Science took us outside on a minibeast hunt! We explored microhabitats and discovered where different insects like to shelter. Finally, in PSHE, we discussed our 'Early Warning Signs' and how to recognise them when something doesn’t feel right.

We can’t wait for more learning next week!
